System Overview:

Green methanation is an advanced clean fuel technology that converts captured CO₂ and green hydrogen into synthetic methane (CH₄) via the Sabatier reaction. This process enables efficient CO₂ utilization while providing a stable solution for long-duration renewable energy storage. As a core technology in Power-to-Gas and CCU strategies, EPC's modular methanation systems offer high conversion efficiency, flexible deployment, and easy scalability. They are suitable for remote sites, isolated grid power integration, grid peak shaving, and large-scale renewable integration, supporting energy system decarbonization and low-carbon fuel substitution.


Main System Components:

CO₂ Capture and Purification – CO₂ sourced from industrial flue gas, biogas upgrading tail gas, or direct air capture (DAC), with multi-stage purification to remove impurities and ensure reaction stability.

PEM/AEM Electrolyzer – Produces high-purity green hydrogen using renewable energy (wind, solar, etc.), providing the core feedstock for methanation.

Methanation Reactor (High-Efficiency Ni-Based Catalyst) – Operates at 300–400°C and 1–3 MPa for the exothermic reaction CO₂ + 4H₂ → CH₄ + 2H₂O, achieving conversion rates >95%.

Gas Purification and Conditioning Unit – Dries, removes byproducts, and conditions the product methane to meet natural gas grid specifications.

Intelligent Control and Thermal Integration System – Enables full-process automation, waste heat recovery, and safety monitoring, enhancing overall system efficiency and operational stability.
