EPC Energy Technology
Electro Power Cell / Power The Future

Provides system engineering solutions for green hydrogen, CO₂ utilization & Power-to-X

System Overview

BOP (Balance of Plant) is the critical supporting system in a hydrogen production unit, alongside the electrolyzer. It handles gas treatment, water circulation, power supply, and system control, forming the core of stable electrolyzer operation and engineering deployment. In practice, BOP is not a simple assembly of components but a multi-parameter coupled system involving fluid dynamics, thermal management, and electrical control. Its performance directly determines system stability, efficiency, and safety.

EPC provides complete BOP solutions through coordinated design of gas treatment, water management, power supply, and control systems. This enables engineering integration from electrolyzer to complete hydrogen production system, delivering operational, scalable, and deployable solutions.

Main System Components:

Gas-Liquid Separation System – Effectively separates hydrogen from electrolyte and water.
Hydrogen Purification System – Upgrades hydrogen purity for various application requirements.
Water Treatment & Circulation System – Supplies stable feed water and maintains system circulation.
Power Supply System (Rectifier) – Provides stable DC power input to the electrolyzer.
Control System (PLC / EMS) – Enables system monitoring, regulation, and safe operation.
Thermal Management System – Controls system temperature to ensure efficiency and stability.

PEM/AEM/AWE Hydrogen Production BOP Systems

BOP (Balance of Plant) is the critical support system in water electrolysis, covering gas treatment, water circulation, power supply, and system control. It is key to system stability and efficiency.

Different electrolysis technologies have distinct requirements:

PEM runs on high-purity water, requiring fast response and precise control.
AEM offers flexibility in cost and water quality, but demands more integrated water management and gas separation.
ALK is mature and suited for large-scale continuous operation, with high demands on alkaline circulation and system stability.

EPC provides tailored BOP solutions for each technology. Through coordinated design of fluid, thermal, and electrical systems, we ensure stable operation and engineering delivery across diverse applications and operating conditions.

System Configuration

Electrolyzer Stack – The core unit where the water electrolysis reaction takes place.
Gas-Liquid Separation System – Effectively separates hydrogen from electrolyte and water.
Hydrogen Purification System – Upgrades hydrogen purity to meet various application needs.
Water Treatment & Circulation System – Supplies stable feed water and maintains system circulation.
Power Supply / Rectifier – Provides stable DC power input matched to electrolyzer operation.
